Mark S. Kirby
Mr. Kirby, the son of a career U.S. Air Force sergeant, grew up living in the various cities and countries where his Dad was based. When his family eventually settled in Tucson, Arizona, Mr. Kirby attended the University of Arizona where he majored in political science and economics.
Following a summer internship in the U.S. House of Representatives, Mr. Kirby was hired as a legislative assistant in the Washington, D.C. office of Congressman William M. Thomas -- a representative from California and the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. Mr. Kirby spent the next four years living two blocks from the U.S. Capitol and working in a crazy, pressure-filled place with crazy, great people, many of whom became life-long friends.
Mr. Kirby then went to law school at the University of Notre Dame. In addition to almost freezing to death going to classes in minus thirty degree wind chill and watching the Irish almost win a football national championship, he graduated cum laude. And made more life-long friends.
Thereafter, he began his legal career as a defense lawyer in a small litigation firm located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. After several years defending self-insured large corporations in commercial, product liability, and general litigation, Mr. Kirby opened his own plaintiffs firm on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia and began representing people injured in motor vehicle and other accidents.
Now, twenty-two years later, Mr. Kirby continues to represent injured people. He has successfully tried major jury civil cases in all five counties of the Philadelphia area. And though he is comfortable in a courtroom, civil with opponents, and has a warm rapport with juries, he is equally comfortable and civil in settlement negotiations with insurance adjustors and opposing lawyers. His goal is justice and fairness for his clients. If justice and fairness can be achieved through a settlement, so be it. If not, Mr. Kirby has no problem going to trial.
Mr. Kirby has two college-aged daughters of whom he couldn’t be more proud. When not practicing law, Mr. Kirby enjoys being outside and needs very little excuse to jump on a bike, go for a run, or even – when patience is in very large supply – pick up a golf club.
